International Women’s Day (IWD) is Friday, March 8. Fish Window Cleaning is excited to celebrate the holiday by recognizing the impact women have had on FISH’s continued growth as well as the business world at large.

What is International Women’s Day?

International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, is an internationally-recognized event designed to celebrate women’s achievements while promoting a gender-balanced world. The United Nations calls IWD “...a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

Why Women Make Great Leaders

A major component of International Women’s Day is recognizing the amazing qualities that women can bring to the working world. While every woman is unique and has an individual skill set, there has been a notable trend in women’s leadership qualities. Women tend to be particularly motivated by challenges and have been shown to lead by example. Additionally, many women find they are able to efficiently multi-task and can relate well to their workers. That empathetic, yet driven approach can be very motivating for other women working to climb the corporate ladder. While women in leadership roles have increased over the past few decades, there is still much work to be done.

Fish Window Cleaning believes that women contribute a great deal to the FISH brand. Providing support to female franchise owners and women in corporate positions is of utmost importance.

“I’ve had a great experience as a FISH franchisee. I absolutely love what I do,” says Cole Robinson, owner of Fish Window Cleaning in Tampa, Florida. “Running a business is exciting for any business owner, but as a woman in a typically male-dominated industry, I have a really unique perspective. I find the work I do very challenging yet rewarding. I love that I get to make people happy, and I am having a lot of fun being a part of the franchising world, especially in a leadership role.”

Katie Wesselschmidt, owner of Fish Window Cleaning in Concord, California, has also pursued her entrepreneurial dream through FISH. “It’s been a tremendously great experience working with Fish Window Cleaning,” says Wesselschmidt. “I have never encountered a gender bias of any kind from FISH corporate nor other franchisees. It’s a great feeling to be taken seriously and treated as an equal. Fish Window Cleaning truly does have a business model that is applicable to all who want to succeed in business.”

In addition to supporting female franchisees, Fish Window Cleaning is proud to have many strong, driven women contributing in the corporate office as well. “I’ve been with Fish Window Cleaning since 2010, and I have had a great experience working at our headquarters,” says Natalie Lloyd, Branding & Marketing Manager. “I was hired right out of college as a young woman and I am thrilled to now be working in a leadership position. I love seeing other ambitious women open franchises and thrive.”

Fish Window Cleaning is proud to support women in both the corporate office and in franchise locations. For more information on how you can join the FISH team, visit FWCFranchise.com.
